Goodheat is a traditional wood-fired sauna at the sea in Nelson, NZ

Located at the Nelson Yacht Club, our cork-clad sauna is steps from the sea allowing for cold plunging in-between each sauna session. We'll be open until the end of November.

What to bring?

Swim wear is required along with 2 towels - one to sit on in the sauna and one to dry yourself with. Water shoes for the ramp especially at low tide. Bring 1L of water in a non-breakable bottle. We recommend arriving ready to go as our changing room is very small.

What not to bring?

The sauna is a device free zone. We also recommend leaving any glasses, watches, or metal jewelry at home or taking off before your session.

Who can use the sauna?

We require guests to be 16 years and above.

If you have any health issues or are pregnant, please review our terms and conditions.

Can water be poured on the rocks?

Yes, our 100kg of stones are ideal for creating smooth dense loyly (steam). Please check with other users before adding water to the rocks. Make sure to pour slowly.

What can I expect from the 1hr session?

You'll have time for about three 10-15 minute sauna sessions with cold plunges in-between sessions. Please remember to leave time for changing as it's part of the 1hr session.

What facilities are there?

Our sauna has a small 1m2 changing room but we recommend you arrive swim ready. You're welcome to store your belongings inside. We have a water jug available for refilling bottles.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is free public parking next to the Seafarers Memorial and along rocks road.
